blue meany

blue meany
Explained by Robert Chapman in his Dictionary of American Slang as ‘a very very cruel and nasty person’. In The Choirboys, by Joseph Wambaugh, occurs: ‘Pete Zoony pursed his lips and smacked a little kiss and said: “Oh, you’re so cute when you’re all mad! You blue meanie!”’ The Los Angeles policeman to whom this is addressed objects to the homosexual tone and knocks the speaker to the ground.
